#1--See Stonehenge

I began compiling a Bucket List about a month after separating from my first husband.  On October 9th of 2010, I sat in the PBX Booth of Northside hospital with my journal and began scribbling down all the things I wanted to do in my life.  Nothing was too big, nothing was impossible.  I wanted to find a passion for life.  I wanted to see the world through wondrous eyes, to find the magic in every day.

I believe the first item on a person's Bucket list is the most important.  It becomes their Holy Grail.  In fact, the top 10 seem to be the most special.  At the moment, my list is 964 items long.  When you cross off an item, it gives you a buzz.  I met my second, and current husband the day after I began my list.  He made it his personal goal to help me cross off as many items as possible within the first month or so of dating.  That buzz does not fade!  I have completed close to 80 items in the last 2 years.

My achievements have slowed down lately--life happens.  I decided to share my list with you all again:  a year or so ago, I began posting the list with simple pictures but no explanation.  I hope to bring more depth to my list by explaining why these items made the list, and it may help to inspire you in making a list of your own.  And in the process, I hope to reignite my passion for life by dreaming big.

The first item on my list is to see Stonehenge.

The monument is located in Wiltshire, England.  I would need to plan on working this goal into a trip with several others.  Looking at a tour website, I could take a train to Salisbury, then catch a bus tour for £24.  This tour stops at the monument and allows the passengers to walk around for an hour, which seems to be plenty of time.

I grew up watching In Search Of... and Unsolved Mysteries.  I'm also a ghost hunter.  I am intrigued by stories of the unexplained.  Maybe I think I'll be the first to be able to explain them.  I am a self-proclaimed empath, so who knows what I'll feel when I get there?

I think Albert Einstein said it best:  "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.  It is the source of all true art and all science.  He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead:  His eyes are closed."

Spookiness aside, just being able to see an ancient piece of history that took a great deal of effort to create would be amazing in itself.

For all of these reasons, Stonehenge is my Holy Grail.  It is the first item on my ever-growing Bucket List.
